AbstractExperiments to study beam plasma interaction phenomena are carried out over a wide range of beam energy. The range extends from a few keV/μ up to and above GeV/μ. They provide detailed insight into interaction phenomena with ionized matter and are relevant to inertial fusion driven by intense ion beams. Chamber propagation and focusing of intense ion beams is a topic which is presently addressed by a number of groups. The present status of beam plasma interaction and chamber propagation physics is reviewed.
