The impact of micro-scale turbulence on the macro-scale plasma profiles in a tokamak is a multi-scale problem (both in space and time) that is treated in this paper by the coupling of turbulence simulations of multiple flux-tubes to a core transport code, together with an equilibrium code. Work on quantifying the uncertainty in the predicted profiles, together with a comparison to experiment is also presented.
