The authors propose magnetic field configurations for containment of a high-temperature plasma. These Vintotors systems, as we shall call them, represent a kind of "synthesis" of two familiar systems, the Torsatron and the Vintotron. In the present paper the authors compare the results of analyses of Vintotors configurations with Vintotro n systems. It is shown that the proposed plasma trap possesses a number of advantages over the previous type. With a magnetic well depth of 5 to 7% a shear value of 0.15 to 0.28 is obtained in the Vintotors system.
