Interpretation of cyclotron radiation spectra from runaway discharges in TFR

The cyclotron radiation spectra from runaway tokamak discharges are discussed and numerical studies reported which attempt to fit the observed data with simple model distribution functions. A model is exhibited which is both physically reasonable and in qualitative agreement with experiment. A tentative attempt is made to compare this result with the theory for runaway dynamics of Parail and Pogutse. It is found that a consistent picture can be formulated if some assumptions are made concerning initial breakdown conditions.
