AbstractThis paper describes solutions adopted for viewing inside the vessel of present day tokamak machines. Concepts capable of satisfying the viewing and inspection requirements for a next step machine are outlined, together with the supporting R&D currently in progress. The inspection requirements are also briefly discussed from the licensing standpoint.
