AbstractIn the frame of the development of blanket manufacturing technologies for DEMO, European associations FZK and CEA have worked on the diffusion welding of ferritic–martensitic (FM) steels. Satisfactory joint microstructure and properties are obtained when specific surface preparation procedures are followed. Different fabrication techniques including machining, bending and hot isostatic pressing-diffusion welding (HIP-DW) are proposed.
