The evolution of the state of polarization of an electromagnetic wave propagating in a Tokamak plasma is considered. At high frequencies a closed analytic expression for the angle of Faraday rotation can be obtained, even though this angle is not small and the equations for the Stokes parameters can not be solved perturbatively. The poloidal field can then be deduced by Abel inversion rather than by fitting with trial functions.
