Laser Interaction with Matter (Report on the 16th European Conference, Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, London, United Kingdom, 26–30 September 1983)

The 16th European Conference on Laser Interaction with Matter (ECLIM) was held at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, from 26 to 30 September 1983. A surprisingly large number of delegates attended the Conference, 167 in total, with 113 of them coming from outside the United Kingdom. Despite its nominal European catchment area, the Conference was also able to attract participants from the USA, Canada, Australia and Japan. There was a wide coverage from European countries with a welcome representation from Eastern Europe.
