AbstractThe target physics portion of the Symposium on Heavy Ion Fusion is summarized. Target calculations are moving beyond decoupled models to completely integrated calculations. A variety of target topologies were discussed. There is a good theoretical understanding of ignition scaling. Recent experiments have verified our theoretical understanding of atomic opacities and hydrodynamic instability growth.
