There is a community of scientists and engineers devoted to developing the physics and technology of very high magnetic field systems. This community recently convened in Novosibirsk (Akademgorodok), USSR, at the Third International Conference on Megagauss Magnetic Field Generation and Related Topics (Megagauss III), 13–17 June 1983. The direct coupling of the Conference activities to controlled nuclear fusion interests occurred in three areas: liner compression of plasma, imploding liners as high-power sources for ICF, and a visit at the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP). It is believed, however, that the other topics of the Conference should also be of general interest to many of the readers of "Nuclear Fusion".
超高磁場システムの物理学と技術の開発に携わる科学者・技術者のコミュニティが存在する。このコミュニティは最近、1983年6月13日から17日まで、ソ連ノヴォシビルスク（アカデムゴロドク）で開催された第3回国際メガガウス磁場発生および関連諸問題会議（Megagauss III）に集まった。会議活動と制御核融合研究との直接的な関連は、次の3つの分野で見られた。すなわち、プラズマのライナー圧縮、ICF用高電力源としての爆縮ライナー、そして核物理学研究所（INP）への訪問である。しかしながら、会議の他のトピックもまた、「Nuclear Fusion」の読者の多くにとって一般的な関心を引くものであると考えられる。
