The Conference was organized by the Novosibirsk Institute of Nuclear Physics, with the support of the USSR Academy of Sciences. There were about 150 participants from the USSR, 38 from the USA, seven from Japan, six from France, four from Czechoslovakia, four from Federal Republic of Germany, and three from Poland. German Democratic Republic, Italy, the Netherlands and Sweden were represented by one participant each. Two previous conferences of this series had been organized in the USA in 1975 and 1977.
本会議は、ノボシビルスク核物理学研究所によって、ソ連科学アカデミーの支援のもとに組織された。参加者は、ソ連から約150名、アメリカから38名、日本から7名、フランスから6名、チェコスロバキアから4名、西ドイツから4名であった。東ドイツ、イタリア、オランダ、スウェーデンからはそれぞれ1名ずつが参加した。本シリーズの会議は、これまでに1975年と1977年にアメリカで2回開催されていた。
