Radiation cooling instabilities in laser driven ablation

R G Evans1985年Plasma Physics and Controlled FusionIF 2.2出版社

A plasma in which a significant part of the energy balance is due to optically thin radiative losses may be subject to a radiation cooling instability. An analytical model gives the dispersion relation for the instability in a static plasma, while inclusion of a realistic radiation loss term in a two dimensional hydrodynamic simulation shows that 'jet' like features form in moderate to high Z laser irradiated plasmas.
