Conditions for effective radio-frequency (RF) plugging of a cusp plasma are examined with a Monte-Carlo simulation model. Both adiabatic and non-adiabatic plugging is studied. The dependence of the plugging efficiency on the machine system size, the applied frequency, and the amplitude of the RF-field is shown explicitly, and optimum conditions for plugging are found.
