Excited-state populations in neutral beam emission

The excited state fractions of hydrogen isotopes in neutral beams arecalculated from compact expressions for the rate coefficients and rateequations. The results are presented in a form suitable for beamemission plasma diagnostic interpretation. Comparisons with results in the published literature reveal discrepancies there up to a factor of two in some cases in the Hα emission rate or its density derivative.
