The present state of research on the Reversed-Field Pinch (RFP) was reviewed at a workshop held at Padua, Italy from 4–12 September 1978. This workshop was organized by the Centro di Studio sui Gas Ionizzati of the National Research Council (CNR) and the University of Padua, EURATOM-CNR Association. There were some 45 participants from Europe, USA, Japan and Australia. Experimental and theoretical work and future perspectives were reviewed in eight sessions.
