To characterize super-intense laser fields is a very challenging task. We propose a method that enables a complete temporal characterization of the laser pulse, when driving ionization. The method relies on the fact that the photoelectron dynamics are basically governed by the laser field, despite the presence of a long-range Coulomb interaction. Thus, the properties of the incident field are imprinted on the photoelectron momentum distributions and, as envisaged by our calculations, can be determined using a velocity map imaging spectroscopy.
