Low-Q MHD activity studies on TFR

TFR has been operated in low-q(a) conditions, with a special emphasis on the understanding of the so-called current limit. Several schemes have been used, one of the most promising being magnetic surface skinning with a variable toroidal field. A detailed analysis of Mirnov coil and soft-X-ray signals is presented and the results are discussed.
