It is shown that the Ray-Hora theory describes the behaviour of plasma stopping power qualitatively well only in those cases where the test ion speed is much higher than the thermal speed of the plasma electrons. Consequently, the conclusions of this theory concerning significant reheating effects in laser-driven fusion plasmas are questionable.
