AbstractThe behavior of diamond film, chemical vapor deposited TiC-coated G3 graphite and molybdenum has been tested using a pulsed laser beam to simulate plasma disruptions. The energy density is up to 2 MJ m−2, and the pulse duration time ranges from 0.1 to 1 m−2. The crater depth, surface components and microphotographs of laser impinged specimens are analyzed by optical microscopy, AES and SEM, respectively. The results are given in detail in this article.
