Hybrid scenarios with high performance have been obtained in the JET tokamak through the proper tailoring of the q-profile at the end of the ramp-up phase with the so called 'overshoot technique' However, the initial q-profile cannot be properly sustained and after one current diffusion time it loses its characteristic flat region in the plasma core, which, in the end, can lead to sawteeth and neo-classical tearing mode that can reduce the high performance initially obtained. In this paper, a new method for the calculation of the off-axis current needed for obtaining a fully relaxed q-profile similar to that desired for hybrid regimes (i.e. with q above 1 with a broad flat region in the core) is shown. This method is applied, by means of a computational example, to two JET hybrid shots.
