The JT-60 tokamak, the principal device in the present Japanese fusion program, is being installed at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, and will be completed in March 1985.Full performance heating experiments are scheduled from August 1986. In parallel with theJT-60 project, tokamak experiments are being carried out on JFT-2M and Doublet-III, andreactor technology development as well, including design studies of a next stage device, theFusion Experimental Reactor.
