An overview of the physical mechanisms involved in power exhaust from toroidal magnetoplasmas is given with emphasis on the tokamak line. The power load problem resulting from the toroidal trap topology together with the extremely anisotropic energy transport in a magnetized plasma is outlined. The physics of heat transport from the core to the wall by charged particles is described and the role of recycling, charge exchange, radiation and transient edge effects is discussed.
