A large-scale heat flux testing methodology for the water-cooled ceramic breeder (WCCB) Test Blanket Module (TBM) submodule was developed and demonstrated using a newly constructed electron-beam (EB) heat load facility. Specialized calibration techniques were implemented to accurately measure the net heat flux intensity applied to the specimen, the EB beam profile, and the surface temperature under ITER-relevant thermal conditions. Utilizing these calibrations, a full-scale physical mock-up of the WCCB TBM submodule was subjected to irradiation under pressurized water reactor (PWR)-like coolant circulation conditions. Post-test evaluations indicated no instances of melting, coolant leakage, weld detachment, or thermal hot spots, thereby confirming the integrity of the WCCB TBM design and the efficacy of the testing methodology. These findings lay a solid groundwork for future qualification tests in preparation for ITER installation.
