Stability of the ideal m = 1 mode in a tokamak

M.F.F. Nave, J. Wesson1988年被引用 15Nuclear FusionIF 3出版社

The condition for stability of the ideal m = 1 mode in toroidal tokamak geometry is calculated for safety factor profiles which are flattened inside the q = 1 surface. It is shown that for such profiles the critical βp for stability goes to zero as the safety factor on axis approaches unity. The critical βp may therefore be small enough to explain sawtooth observations on JET.
