TF-ripple losses from a non-circular tokamak

The TF-ripple loss of fast alphas is modelled for a non-circular high-beta INTOR reactor. Alpha energy losses are found to be small (2.5-3%) with a low impact on the reactor design. Our model is also compared to the work of Tani et al. based on circular, low-β INTOR equilibria. Significant differences are found even when our model is simplified to include the same approximations as in Tani's work.
