A new method of stabilizing the DCLC flute instability is proposed. It is shown that this mode may be damped by central-cell warm plasma at the resonant point where the magnetic field B(z) is equal to that at the plug mid-plane. The electron longitudinal conductance provides a stabilizing effect by the virtual presence of the central-cell warm plasma at the plug midplane, similar to the case of an MHD flute mode.
