General properties of the lower hybrid ray trajectories in toroidal plasmas

General properties of LH ray equations are investigated using a discrete mapping for ray trajectories. A number of unusual features for a Hamiltonian system, originating from the hyperbolic nature of the initial wave equation, are found. They include frequency locking, intermittency and attractors. Dynamical chaos in the system is also studied in detail.
