A proposal for determining the current density profile of tokamaks by the use of ordinary and extraordinary waves is presented. Transmission paths of both waves are taken along a constant major radius. Using microwave interferometry, the phase shifts, which depend on the magnetic field, give the current density profile. An estimate of the plasma density distribution is also discussed.
