Current profile modification by pellet injection has been numerically investigated on the JT-60 tokamak, using the diffusion equation of the poloidal magnetic field. The simulation results suggest that the safety factor on axis q(0) is maintained below 1.0 during the long sawtooth free phase obtained by high power neutral beam heating of pellet fuelled plasmas.
