The bulk motion of the plasma in the Divertor Injection Tokamak Experiment (DITE) has been measured using the spectral shifts of impurity emission lines whose intensities are enhanced during H0 beam injection. Rotational speeds in the toroidal direction reach 1.5 × 107 cm·s−1 during 2.1 MW of co-injection without the divertor fields. In all other operating conditions investigated so far, the rotation is less by nearly an order of magnitude. The main influence in suppressing the rotation in the latter cases is the bundle divertor.
