The 16th Symposium on Fusion Technology (SOFT) was hosted by the JET project and held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London, from 3 to 7 September 1990. The majority of the 556 participants came from European institutions, but there were also delegates from Japan, the USA and other countries. This symposium has matured considerably over the past decade, and it now attracts numerous industrial sponsors. At this symposium, there were 17 invited talks, 15 oral and 321 poster presentations.
