EPS 27th Conference on Controlled Fusion and Plasma Physics

The EPS-27 Conference on Controlled Fusion and Plasma Physics was heldin the Recreation and Cultural Center of the Hungarian Army (StefániaPalace), Budapest, Hungary on 12--16 June 2000. It was organized onbehalf of the Plasma Physics Division of the European Physical Societyby the KFKI Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics. EPS-27 brought together plasma physicists from all over the world. By decisionof the EPS Plasma Physics Board the conference this year tried torepresent all fields of plasma physics appropriately. Additional invited talks comprised a specialevening lecture on progress with the ITER project and a talk by thewinner of the newly inaugurated Hannes Alfvén Memorial Prize. Out of the540 submitted contributions, 27 papers were selected for oralpresentations, while the others were presented as posters in one of thefour poster sessions.The four-page contributed papers are published on a CD-ROM in theEurophysics Conference Abstracts series, volume 24B. A provisionalcollection of the electronically submitted papers has been available atthe conference website (www.eps2000.kfki.hu) since the opening of theconference. This service was made available by the ELISE conferencesubmission program developed by CRPP-EPFL, Lausanne.The invited papers received by the appropriate deadline, the evening lecture on ITER and the talk by theAlfvén prize winner Professor Radu Balescu are published in this specialissue of Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion which will be sent toregistered participants of the conference.
