Influence of a perpendicular magnetic field upon reconnection in a turbulent current sheet

A T Altyntsev, N V Lebedev, N A Strokin1989年Plasma Physics and Controlled FusionIF 2.2出版社

The authors present results of an experimental study of the dependence of the current filament growth rate on the magnitude of the (perpendicular to the sheet) component of the magnetic field Bn. It is shown that in a turbulent current sheet the growth rate drops significantly when Bn>10-2Bb (Bb being the magnitude of the magnetic field on the sheet boundary), retaining then a constant value.
