Wavelength shifts of 3/2 omega 0 emission, from the exact values of the harmonics from laser produced carbon plasma, at laser intensities varying from 1.5*1014 to 1.7*1013 W cm-2, have been measured, using a 20J-5 ns, 1.0641 mu Nd:glass laser. Theoretical estimates of wavelength shifts taking into account the variation of plasmon wave number have been compared with the experimental values. The variation of plasmon wave number, while travelling from 2 omega p-region to the region of 3/2 omega p-generation, has been estimated. The cases of s- and p-polarized light have been considered. The measurement of these shifts proves a useful tool to study the plasma turbulence as well as the plasma temperature.
