Inductively coupled plasma discharges demonstrate a number of kinetic and nonlinear phenomena of general interest such as collisionless electromagnetic wave absorption (Landau heating), ponderomotive effects and nonlinear regimes of the anomalous skin effect. In a finite temperature plasma the electron response becomes strongly non-local due to the thermal motion. This results in a significant reduction of the ponderomotive force amplitude. At larger amplitudes, nonlinear modification of the electron trajectories due to the Lorentz force partially restores the amplitude of the ponderomotive force, even to the extent of approaching the local value.
