The anomalous diffusion coefficient in a turbulent plasma with destroyed magnetic surfaces can be defined in two independent ways. The first one requires the evaluation of the mean square displacement of a particle described by a stochastic Langevin equation. The second one starts from the correlation between the magnetic fluctuation and the fluctuating distribution function, to be obtained from a kinetic equation. The two approaches are critically compared.
