A theoretical model is presented describing the spatial structure and scaling laws for the ablative corona generated by the incidence of an intense light ion beam pulse on a spherical pellet. This treatment differs, from an earlier model in the assumption that the beam velocity vb is higher than the electron thermal velocity vThe everywhere, which allows one to obtain universal profiles for the dimensionless magnitudes describing the state of the corona. The setting of a self-regulating regime for the plasma opacity is confirmed.
