The collisional damping of the electrostatic plasma wave excited by two electromagnetic waves in a hydrogen plasma is analysed and found to occur only in the case of extremely low laser intensity. The discrepancy with the calculation of R. Bingham et al. (1987) is due to the reduction of the collision frequency caused by the plasma oscillation, which was neglected in their analysis.
