In this section the reader will find what the LCT participants have come to regard as the most important lessons that can be derived from this unique undertaking. First, the success of LCT is gauged by comparison of its achievements with the mission and objectives that were identified initially in the IEA Agreement and Annex I. Next, from experimental data of unprecedented depth, conclusions are drawn regarding optimal solutions to the special problems of designing superconducting magnets for fusion devices of the future. Then, the most pertinent lessons for system designers and future operators are summarized.
