An analysis is made of the effect of plasma equilibrium currents and of an external transverse correcting field on the characteristics of the separatrix (the limiting closed magnetic surface) in an ℓ = 3 stellarator. The investigations were made by using numerical integration of the equation of a magnetic line of force, for simplified models of the magnetic field.
