Spatially resolved spectroscopic measurements of carbon impurity ion line brightness profiles in ergodic divertor (ED) Tore Supra tokamak plasmas have shown modulations in the poloidal electron temperature and density in the peripheral ED layer. These effects have been qualitatively reproduced by using a field line tracing code.
