The European Conference on Controlled Fusion and Plasma Physics, organized by the Plasma Physics Division of the European Physical Society, which, after having started three years ago, takes place annually in late spring, continues to reflect the major effort being put into developing controlled nuclear fusion in both eastern and western Europe. Major participation from the USA, Japan and Canada again emphasized the importance of this meeting. This year the conference was hosted by the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT), Spain, and took place in the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Madrid. It was attended by about 500 participants from 25 countries.
欧州物理学会プラズマ物理部門が主催する制御核融合・プラズマ物理に関する欧州会議は、3年前に開始されて以来、毎年春の終わりに開催され、東西ヨーロッパにおける制御核融合開発への主要な取り組みを引き続き反映しています。米国、日本、カナダからの主要な参加により、この会議の重要性が再び強調されました。今年の会議は、スペインのCIEMAT（エネルギー環境技術研究センター）が主催し、マドリードのパラシオ・デ・コングレソス・イ・エスポシシオネスで開催されました。25か国から約500名の参加者が集まりました。
