The second IAEA Technical Committee Meeting on physics and diagnostics of fusion produced alpha particles was hosted by the Institute of Electromagnetic Field Theory and Plasma Physics (IEFT), Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden (for the first meeting see Ref. [1]). The programme and organizing committee consisted of the following members: F. Engelmann (ITER, Garching, Germany), Ya.I. Kolesnichenko (Institute of Nuclear Research (INR), Kiev, USSR), D.J. Sigmar (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA), K. Tani (Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, Japan), H. Wilhelmsson (Chalmers University of Technology, Goteborg, Sweden). The IAEA was represented by V.V. Demchenko, and M. Lisak (Chalmers University) was the chairman of the local arrangements. The meeting was attended by more than 40 participants from eight countries who presented 39 papers. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the alpha particle physics issues of magnetically confined fusion plasmas, to sum up the current theoretical understanding of alpha particle physics, to discuss the imminent experiments with D-T plasma operation and to identify the most important open areas of burning plasma research.
第2回IAEA技術委員会会合「核融合により生成されたアルファ粒子の物理と診断」は、スウェーデンのヨーテボリにあるチャルマース工科大学電磁場理論・プラズマ物理学研究所（IEFT）が主催した（第1回会合については参考文献[1]を参照）。プログラム・組織委員会は以下のメンバーで構成された：F. Engelmann（ITER、ガルヒンク、ドイツ）、Ya.I. Kolesnichenko（核研究所（INR）、キエフ、ソ連）、D.J. Sigmar（マサチューセッツ工科大学、ケンブリッジ、米国）、K. Tani（日本原子力研究所、日本）、H. Wilhelmsson（チャルマース工科大学、ヨーテボリ、スウェーデン）。IAEAはV.V. Demchenkoが代表を務め、M. Lisak（チャルマース工科大学）が現地運営の委員長を務めた。この会合には8か国から40名以上の参加者が集まり、39件の論文が発表された。会合の目的は、磁場閉じ込め核融合プラズマにおけるアルファ粒子物理の諸問題を議論し、アルファ粒子物理に関する現在の理論的理解を総括し、D-Tプラズマ運転による差し迫った実験について議論し、燃焼プラズマ研究における最も重要な未解決領域を特定することであった。
