AbstractThe production of waste from operation and decommissioning of future fusion power plant models will depend on the plant model design and the operation conditions. Studies on waste from different fusion power plant model designs have been performed at Studsvik RadWaste AB in Sweden as part of the European fusion safety program ‘Safety and Environmental Assessment of Fusion Power’ (SEAFP-2 and SEAFP 99). Six different plant model designs were considered in the studies, PM 1–6. The main part of activated material can possibly be cleared or recycled internally after intermediate storage. However, if existing clearance limits in different countries are applied, most of the waste has to be disposed of in repositories.
