The Third International (Kiev) Conference on Plasma Theory took place at Trieste (Italy) from 5 to 9 April 1977. As is well known, the two previous Conferences on Plasma Theory, organized by the Ukrainian SSR and the USSR Academies of Sciences and supported by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, were held in 1971 and 1974 at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in Kiev. The main purpose of the International Kiev Conferences on Plasma Theory is the discussion of problems of plasma physics, which are basic for such scientific and technical problems as controlled thermonuclear fusion, magnetohydrodynamic conversion of thermal into electric energy, creation of new radiowave sources, conquest of space, etc.
第3回国際キエフ・プラズマ理論会議は、1977年4月5日から9日までイタリアのトリエステで開催された。周知のように、ウクライナSSR科学アカデミーとソ連科学アカデミーが主催し、国際純粋・応用物理学連合が支援した過去2回のプラズマ理論会議は、1971年と1974年にキエフの理論物理学研究所で開催された。国際キエフ・プラズマ理論会議の主な目的は、制御熱核融合、熱エネルギーから電気エネルギーへの磁気流体力学変換、新しい電波源の創出、宇宙の開拓などの科学的・技術的問題の基礎となるプラズマ物理学の諸問題を議論することである。
