The stationary model for slowly diffusing plasmas is used in order to find the time of diffusion of particles of two kinds of compact tori analytical equilibria, one with a spherical separatrix and the other with a cylindrical one of variable elongation. The results show that the time is an increasing function of beta for given parameters, and this allows us to infer that field-reversed configurations have better transport properties than small beta spheromaks. Using experimental data the theoretical results are in quite good agreement with measured particle-diffusion times.
