In this paper, we study the effects of particle radial transport on theelectron cyclotron (EC) and lower hybrid (LH) power deposition profilesand current drive efficiency. We consider a tokamak plasma under thecombined action of LH waves, EC waves, collisions and spatial transportof electrons across the magnetic surfaces, and consider situations inwhich the spatial location of the peaks of power deposition profiles forEC and LH waves is not the same. Our results, found from numericalsolution of the diffusion equation, indicate significant modification inthe LH power deposition profile and show evidence of a non-localsynergism between LH and EC waves when transport is present, leading tostrong enhancing of RF current drive efficiency.
